After winning his three qualifications' matches, Evgueny defeated frenchman Florent Serra 6/3 3/6 6/4 in the first round of the main draw.

Jhenya runs to third round after beating L.Horna (PER) in a straight 1h17 : 6/2 6/3.

He will play his next round against [2]T.Robredo (SPA).

Unfortunatly Evgueny lost to top seed T.Robredo 4/6 6/3 6/1.

We can underline the fact that he bravely took a set to his opponent, he was led 4/2 and finaly scored 4 consecutive games to end the first set 6/4.

Evgueny will play his first match of qualifications against #1 seed N.Mahut (FRA).

Unfortunatly Jenya lost to N.Mahut 6/4 5/7 6/4. "A tough match" Mahut said, and a tough match it was, for both. Coming back for a long time without playing, he was probably not at his best, an observation that the statistics confirm, but showing such a resistance to the qualifications' number one seed is a good sign for the upcoming US Open.

Last week Evgueny played and won the Challenger of Dusseldorf, Germany.

He was #4 seed of this clay tournament.

He reached the final after defeating [5]A.Portas (ESP) 6/7(7) 7/5 5/1ret.

Then he beated A.Vinciguerra (SWE) 7/5 6/3 to win the trophee.

Interesting fact, Evgueny was also playing in the double draw, associated to S.Greul (GER) #1 seed of the single draw.

And they reached the final, were they lost to the #1 seeds H.Armando (USA)/T.Behrend (GER) 6/1 4/6 10-4.
